More specifically; instagib?

I remember one of the i-series events years ago when I was about 15/16 and me and a mate won the instagib tourny. As it wasn't one of the officially supported tournaments, we didn't win anything but I loved that game/mod - incredibly fast paced and exciting.

I'm thinking about reinstalling it and giving it a bash.

If not, what do people play these days that's similar? Cheers.

Don't know, but they should.

Makes me smile when people describe CoD/Halo/BF as frantic.

Back when I was a lad, it was rocket jumps to school, uphill both ways etc.

We had a server on the LAN in the office and used to play at lunchtimes and evenings... or when the boss fancied a game, I can't help thinking it's one of those games that was great then but might be best as a fond memory. Has it aged well?

Me and a group of mates very occasionally break out the laptops for a Unreal Tournament 2004 LAN party.

Graphically, it has aged very well and still looks quite good for a brightly coloured, whirlwind of rockets, spider mines and Redemeers. The action is still stupidly fast-paced and can easily kill 5/6 hours on a Sunday afternoon.

We tend to play Onslaught matches, with 4 or 5 of us playing high difficultly A.I.

Still a great game in my eyes and is in the very small group of older games that never lose their charm.

The original was where it was at... smooth as silk and fast paced as hell...

I had a load of pictures of silly high scores in my old Geocities account (all got deleted a couple of years back).

Haha, check out the speed of that gameplay. Awesome.

Anyone up for a game?

Don't play it anymore, but have very fond memories of it. Downloaded a mod for it called Crotch-Shot that did basically what you'd expect, any shots from a pistol or sniper rifle to the groin resulted in an instant kill, the character buckling over in agony and the announcer booming out 'Crotch Shot!'.

Myself and a couple of friends still occasionally play the first UT - nothing since has matched it for me.

We usually play some instagib on DM-Morpheus and then some CTF on CFT-November and Hall of Giants smile
