Dont suppose anyone here is an expert on kids testicles?
Discussion
My Five year old presented with a apparently sudden swollen testicle Thursday night. After an emergancy trip to ED they confirmed nothing serious or urgent but it appeared to be a hydrocele.
Sent us home with a letter for our GP to arrange an urgent scan.
Had scan yesterday and transpiried not a hydrocele afterall but a very large "cyst" and he struggled to find the testicle but did eventually rather high up.
Have an appt with GP on Friday to discuss but of course im googling like a mad woman and can find nothing to suggest that in a five year old this is all fine and nothing to worry about.
Anyone want to placate a worried mum?

I am obviously not an expert but I do know that cysts are nothing to worry about and if he has had a scan then the diagnosis should be accurate.
Reading that back I know a random bloke on the internet saying not very much is going to fall a bit short of reassuring to your wife.
I could tell you a horror story about cysts in children though, if you like?

The 'Googling' will probably be counterproductive and just scare you further. The web has so much false and hysterical info that it can have negative effects, when you need to remain positive.
Truth is that up to third of males have cysts or can have cysts where the tube is connected to the testicle. If the hospital are saying that there's nothing to worry about, then relax a bit and wait until the GP appt before stressing yourself more.
A colleage's young son had a lump down there and when it was squeezed, he cried in agony. Every time it was squeezed, he howled with pain so they rushed him to the doctor. Turned out it wasn't a lump, they were trying to 'pop' his gonad!!

Wait for the doctor for any advice. I have a small cyst on one of my plums, found just before the snip. Doc said not to worry about, so I promptly crapped myself and thought my plums were rotten. From what my doc told me its common and just one of life's things
Yeah see i get that. It's just that this "lump" is massive and pushed his little nutcracker high up out of the way. It's about 10 times the size of the actual nutcracker! Poor little lad!ok i feel sick now. GP just rang as she has the results and needs to talk to me to discuss next action...and i missed the damm call!!!!!
Still, at least they are moving very quickly and for that i cant knock them. Brill service so far.
Just waiting for a call back now. My phone is off silent and everything is going to get dropped for her.
no idea why im even writing this as it's a non-story but it's kind of helping so ignore me. sorry.

It's okay- I can understand exactly your paranoia right now.
.
WHilst I don't know anything - I do know that no cancer in the history of the world ever went from zero to golfball overnight, if that's what you are paranoid about?
Good luck with the appointment.
Let me guess. You work in a hospital.
