My 80s car turns 25 on Thursday. Certainly not less loved in my household!

80s and early 90s had very little going for it car wise. Bland cars aplenty.

The 80s had some great cars and did actually move the game on from the stodge of the 70s. We had the Sierra and fwd Cavalier, the BX, the 405, all good cars. R5 GT Turbos, 205 GTIs, Sierra Cosworths. Chevrolet had the 3rd gen Camaro and C4 Corvette.

The 90s also had some great cars.

To be honest, it's modern cars that will be far less loved in the future. I parked next to a new Fiesta Zetec S yesterday and wondered what that blancmange with the vast bonnet was before realising. It was parked near a Honda CTR - all low bonnet and big windows which looked way better.

Alfa 75 V6 and SZ, BMW 635i and M3 E30, Sierra Cosworth, Rover Vitesse, Lancia Integrale, Porsche 930/964, Alpine A610, 205GTi, Citroen CX/XM, VW Corrado, Mercedes 190 2.5 16v, Fiat Uno Turbo, Bentley Mulsanne Turbo, Honda CRX, Mazda MX5, Reault Espace Mk1.

I'm loving the 80s more than most eras. Give me any of the above over most cars from the era before or after....

Personally, I find the current era less inspiring than many other. The move to SUVs means family cars are just not as clever as the first aerodynmanic, light, space efficient people carriers. In Sports Cars, I don't see a quantum leap forward (in say Boxster, MX5 and Elise type cars as an example) over their predecessors from 18 years ago.... We seem to be inching forward in evolution.

Big, naturally aspirated engines and square, but not fadish design and lively graphics are a 80s hallmark and looks way more interesting than the safe, diesel first appliances of today.

There is a famous Quote "Old is Gold" and 80's car are gold. There has been a lots of good model to come out in 80's as mentioned before and i must say in modern era we lack such kind of designs.

My favourite era for cars. You had the good bits of modernity (reliability, long service life, up to 100 bhp per litre) without the stifling eco and crash test regulations that dictate modern design. Small cars were small, and weighed well under a tonne.

And I love every 80s hot hatch. Every last one of them. They have a sense of drama and occasion that the modern ones, for all their infinitely superior specs, just can't touch IMHO.

My Era.

Mk1 Golf GTI's
Astra GTE's,
Alfasud Ti's
And Escort XR3's

Hot hatches
And Supercars
Like Porsche 959's
The Dacia dusters that wont get you far

We had time machines
We had box style
We had crazy rally cars
Only for a short while

In the 80's we had it all
From fast to slow
Ferarri F40 in your dreams
And the dreaded Yugo

Well they can't be that bad because nearly all of your previous cars including your current one are from the 80's and 90's lol

Unless you like driving bland cars (which your current one clearly is the opposite of smile)

That Allegro rear boot where it meets the rear screen is making me wet. Dont really like the rest of it but that looks like a nice piece of design.

every decade has its bland cars. the 80s/ 90s were no worse than any other decade.

in 20 years time everybody will cream themselves over looked after models
