Now while my Chim 500 runs lovely on Optimax, why the change to newer Shell Nitro - anyone know the mechanics?
I am hoping that this isn't introducing more ethenol by the back door of rebranding to speed up the process of fuel line degredation.
Shell site cunningly evasive of what benefits this provides or how formula has changed.

Nitro has more anti friction gunk in it and more cleaners so running it will give you less friction piston/bore and cleaner valves. In my opinion it does seam to make a V8 engine rev crisper. It is still 99 as far as shell tell me.Worth the extra, you bet, if it makes you think your car is running faster or more responsive.Since running it, i have had three straigh race wins and Alonso has had one,i rest my case
Same stuff, rebranded and a bit more ethanol checked in I suspect. Best high octane fuel on the market though. Not seen the data sheets on it yet.
My theory is, Shell have just sold their Stanfield refinery to Essar Energy along with all the rights to the fuels and lubes blended there.
Essar are now making their own 99 RON fuel and I think this might be a tweaked Optimax. Shell have now created their "new" fuel to not fall foul of using the old blend.
At a guess...
