So. I have inherited a vixen chassis and running gear off this bloke who is transplanting a vixen body onto a chimaera chassis.

I have this old Morris Marina shell at home whose engine expired many moons ago. in addition the floor pan was pretty rotten and the back axle had a bit of a whine.

I have measured the wheelbase and it appears that I can weld a couple of scaffolding bars across the outrigger long tubes which can support the marina bodyshell once I have cut the rest of the rotten floor pan out.

I wonder if anyone else has had the idea of utilising some of British engineerings iconic designs in such a way...

Does not compute

But I have often wondered whether the Vixen chassis and running gear would make a good basis for a "special" with an alternative glass fibre body. Either an old 1950s special body like an Ashley or maybe even a re imagination of the TVR Open Sports

Is it a 2 door coupe or the four door saloon? Two door probably better choice as it will flex less scratchchin

Will only be worth driving if you fit an original allegro steering wheel.

It would be better if it was the later 'Ital'

That way you could end up with a 'Vital'.
At the moment you could end up with a 'Virina' which sounds a bit like a treatment on lady parts!

Strip the Marina bodyshell down to its outer panels only, then cut about a foot off round the bottom cut the wheelarches up to the window line, space frame it out and on the Vixen chassis with your angle iron, and take your place on the grid with all the other 70s/80s Super Saloons!! The Skoda was nice!

I think it would need to be painted in a beige colour scheme....

Happy to buy you a furry dice set for her and a nodding dog for the rear however have you measured it up for an MX5 shell
That may appeal to the Blackpool hair dressers
