battery conditioners??

i haven't been using the S as much recently and so I am thinking of getting a battery conditioner to make sure when I do turn the key all is okey dokey!!. Can anyone recomend a make that they have used and they are pleased with?

I use the Accumate Pro which I got from Leven Technology.

Keeps your battery in tip top condition.

You can get a cigarette lighter adaptor (which I can also highly recommend).

My accumate has been wired directly to the battery and fitted into the boot, so I just need to open the boot and plug into a wall socket for instant top up charging. Would recommend this.

If I am going to use the cigarette lighter to charge it does the ignition need to be on? i.e. the cigarette lighter only works once the ignition is on so will it only take charge if the ignition is on?

Nope.

mine didnt work with the ignition off, ie: the current was dead and wouldn't charge. I understand some "S" cars are wired differently. Mines 1991 J plate.

I use mine through the cig lighter socket with no prob'. Altho just make sure you have a good connection shown by the lights on the conditioner. Whole thing is great tho

Halfords do a less sophisticated one for £20. Called Battery Master and made by Draper.
I have used both it and the accumate with good results.

mine is also a 91 J plate although it is no probs to flip the bonnet and clip it on.

I've had an AirFlow Battery Conditioner for about 6 years, so my S2's battery is always fully charged. For ease of use I have a socket connected to the battery by a fused link and mounted on top of the front "mudguard" so that it can be connected to the unit.

Whichever you get, don't forget to keep check the battery's electrolyte levels.
