The old barge...

Happened to have a valeter (or is it a detailer) around for another car. Decided that I may as well have the old barge done at the same time.

I'm quite pleased with the result. I'll concentrate on the inside as that's where I spend my time!

The colours are not fashionable, but I think suit the car.



Pretty good for a 12 year old Merc. There is a bit of rust settling in to the rear nearside arch that will need attention.

I've had the car for 6 months and 20,000 miles and it's just coped with everything thrown at it. A relaxing 3.2 straight 6 diesel delivers ample, if not scintillating performance, and the ride is as smooth as silk, helped by a fabulous smooth gear change.

This particular car is well specified with ventilated comfort suits, sunroof, zenons and satnav - none of these were that common in 2001.

Pushed my luck a little that day and did eventually get stuck on a single track lane. The car went far further than I expected though. Interestingly the weather defeated the much newer Renault behind me that would not even start.



A trip to Thurso left it in need of a wash.

Lovely car. I'm not 100% sold on the colour but it does suit it! It's great to see one that's been very well specified but not been modified since - original wheels and everything.

I've promised myself a Mercedes estate one day...

I'm currently in Azerbaijan where the W210 Mercedes is in abundance, I was in a 578,000km example yesterday and despite them being tarred with the poor build quality brush, it had not a squeak nor a rattle, and more importantly no rust

I love the elegance of the beige interior and gold paint, it works very well on the type of car, I'd love to buy a merc like this for dog transport duties, In fact I'm off to the classifieds

when i said a good while it was probably on my walk to school in 1999 when i was 11

i believe it was a Rover 75 in JRG

I probably spat out my Lucozade NRG and Hubba Bubba as I gazed at in all it's disgusting splendour

Had one for 8 years but it was rotten as a pear , MB repaired it a couple of times but it had to go.

Really miss that engine


Tis a nice spec , mine had the seats in the back and built in boosters all in black leather easy to add £10k in options to one

strange to have Xenon's & sat nav but no leather, my dad runs a merc specialist and whilst I don't really like them, they are a comfy way of getting about

Acres of leather.... In the process of retrofitting a seven seat interior. One side is done, the other side to do...

The old man had one on a P plate, did about 110k in 2 years in it and then bought it of the company when he stopped working. It never liked the lack of miles and the auto box has a couple of £1k MB rebuilds.

Last I saw of it we sold it to a chap for £500 not stating and riddled with rust.

I may well replace by Accord Diesel Estate if I can find a decent one.
