Pretty steadicam like but seemingly without the need to practice yourself to death perfecting its use!!
I tried a full steadicam once. It's bloody hardwork! The kit nearly pulled me over and put me on the floor at one point and the feather touch at the gimbal joint is very frustrating. That's assuming you managed to get the thing perfectly balanced in the first place. I then designed and built my own hand held one. The mechanics are simple enough but I over estimated what I thought I could comfortably hold for periods of time. Hehe even for a handy cam it gave you arm ache after a couple of minutes.
Have seen these types of gyro stabilised devices before. Seen a few home made ones and even a fully robotic dolly ( had like a Fanuc robot arm on a dolly, limited use but absolutely perfectly still!!). I guess as electronics become smaller, cheaper and more powerful these sorts of things will become very common.

the movi cam stabilizer is a nice bit of kit but a pricey option
there's been alot of interest in cheaper alternatives (DirectDrive Brushless Gimbal) for mounting on multi-copters which are mucho cheaper
but still in early stages of development, so no consumer-ready option just yet...
