Fiat Grande Punto burning oil mystery?! Help Please!
Discussion
Hi there,
I am having an issue with my 2006 Grande Punto 1.4 16v sporting. It seems to burn oil on start up and weirdly when going up steep hills ONLY (at which point it bellows out clouds of blue/white smoke). When going up a hill the smoke appears just after the gear change to a lower gear (e.g 2nd). I have never noticed blue/white smoke from the exhaust at any other times than these. The car has only done 45,000 miles! What could this be?
The car is burning oil much faster than it should.. And an engineering friend has confirmed that the amount of smoke coming from the exhaust when it is exhibiting the problem is definitely not normal. He has also had a brief look inside the engine bay and cannot see anything obvious.
Its a shame because I really like the car other than this!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Rob.
