Hey chaps!
Have a question for the collective, recently my windscreen has started linking from the front passengers side top. So in the almost constant rain of the British summer it is also raining inside my car as well!! (fortunately its the passeners side!) The issue being I called up autoglass for a price to take it out and re-seal it and was told that they would likely break it and for a new one and re-sealing it would be £796 which was somewhat eye watering to be honest!!!
Any idea's be greatly appreciated. Am in the east midlands.

I'd expect to pay about £253.92 inc. vat.
Took 3 attempts though, lot of screens were too curved along the bottom and didn't fit at all well.
Had a new screen fitted in the Chimaera couple of years ago by Autoglass, done through insurance but out of couriosity I asked what it would have cost me and was told "about £800" !
If it's leaking, one possibility is that the contact surfaces were not prepared/treated correctly before installation. Besides, something must be badly wrong for the water to be getting behind the backfill which, effectively, is a water barrier before you get to the bond.
You can't say a good screen will crack without even having seen it!

It may be possible to remove and refit a screen but breaking it is a possibility and that would normally be pointed out to the owner so it it worth trying first with a reputable and skilled fitter who has a new screen just in case.
Secondly do you know who fitted it? as some companies offer a "lifetime" warranty on their work so that may be the cheap option.
It is worth mentioning that as Glassman rightly says the bond between the screen and the bodywork is faulty for it to leak BUT more than it being a leak it is ceasing to be a structural part of your rollover protection as the screen is designed to be a structural part of the bodywork that protects you in the event of an accident and keeps you inside the vehicle and allows the airbag to deploy properly.
There is a court case just launched in the USA over this very issue where the fitters of the screen are being sued for causing the death of two occupants.
