Because not a lot were made ...

Approx 2,500 RHD were made for the global markets of which it is estimated only 10% were Imola... The bulk of them probably ended up in the UK but 10 years on there are probably a few that are no longer on the road...

There is one in my garage too!

I think I remember somewhere that there were only 44 Imola Reds sold in the UK?

it does seem strong money, does the red attract a premium now?

That is strong money. I bought mine 2 years ago with 48k miles for £10000.

79 Imola red RHD cars in total over all years out of a total of 2595 RHD or DE92 cars.

Not many to begin with sadly. There was one for sale a while ago I was sorely tempted by but the head won through at the time and I stayed with the old Datsun... :-)

Yes one here, but unfortunately not for sale!

It's a lovely colour, I was originally looking for Blue/Black. But as soon as I saw this I was hooked!

I wish you luck in your quest, I've done almost 100K since I bought it 7 years ago, shes now done 145k & I can't think of a better car. So much so I have just spent £2500 on preventative engine maintenance.

Lovely colour, my friends son has one around Bath but again doubt it is for sale. He's had it since 3rd year in Uni the jammy sod!

Wow that looks amazing!!!!! Any more photos of that car?
Is red an individual colour, or just not a common one?

Yeah - the builders looked really wierdly at me when I showed them the picture of the Ring carousel to model my driveway on! lol. I'm not sure if imola was 'individual' as such, but I believe that only 30 of them got sold in the UK in Imola.

I pondered an imola red M5 when I first looked at buying one but I couldn't find one that was right for me, I very nearly bought a cheap pre-facelift one on eBay without looking at it becuse it was so nice to look at but backed out and opted for a facelift one.
It was my saving grace actually becuse the car I had missed out on earlier that year was only kept by the old owner for 6 months so I put a deposit down on it as soon as it came back up on PH classifieds :-)

Might pick your brains about the maintenance photo you posted, mine is at 130k now and could use a bit of maintenance as well, I've been reading up on the bearing and vanos parts to change on the M5 board so it's something I plan to do. First for me soon though is change the top mounts, idler arm bush and ball joint ast the front to stiffen it all up again, the steering is getting very vague.
