Coach Trip

This year, for many reasons (mainly because I don't want to miss this years race), I have opted for the organised "red eye" coach trip, leaving London the Friday night before the race and returning straight afterwards.

As I have not travelled this way before (have always driven) I was looking for some advice from people who have experienced the trip before on what to expect, what things to take, whereabouts do the coaches park, I did see some between Bleu North & South last year.

All experiances welcome, I need to know the best (and worst) that I can expect

Wet wipes and make sure the coach has a toilet

If not, a 2ltr empty coke bottle might come in handy!

my first trip in the mid eighties was with apge and moy train to south coast boat to diepe and then coach never done it since, the coaches stopped in la gaz in the very early hours of saturday and we found the local shops open especially for us, not being very savvy we stocked up on booze and fags plus crisps, ended up being forced to clean teeth with beer and getting little or no sleep from friday until we left. things are better now the bogs are better around the circuit and hopefully you will be able to use the coach while you are there. It was an amazing trip and i have been back every year since but always by car and camping Main tip will be take some food and plenty of drinks plus all kinds of cloths if possible as you may end up with no base and with about 35 hours without anywhere to sleep/ rest so try and find some mates at a campsite.

If you haven't booked yet you might want to check coach vs. train.

Sure, the coach will be cheaper but train->metro->train->tram will be quicker and a site more comfortable!

That sounds almost identical to a trip I did at about tje same time.

The biggest problem was finding somewhere to sleep.

I can confirm that the luggage hold on one of these coaches is very spacious. Just use the squishy bags as pillows.

Yep sleep was the biggest problem for us a couple of people on our coach did climb into the luggage compartments underneath the coach to try to sleep, wonder if that was you.
I remember when we arrived in newhaven and were put on a train to london got split up in the rush for seats and ended up in a first class carraige with 7 others, within minutes we were all asleep and the guard had to wake us at victoria.
But that trip hooked me on le mans and has gave me many stories to tell many involving the lack of faciliities
