I think the Z3 is / was a really really fine car. I just wish it came in Men's sizes

Well I rather liked my M Roadster. It may not have been the best handling 321bhp rear wheel drive open top two seater ever, but, er, it was a pretty good handling 321bhp rear wheel drive 2 seater.

Did I mention it had 321bhp and rear wheel drive.....?

I am going to have to put the cat among the pigeons here.

I think if you are the sort of person looking for a high performance, well balanced, good fun soft top car then it's probably not the best choice that you could go for. But, if you (like my Mother) is looking for an attractive (obviously a personal opinion), well built, lively, open top roadster, then you can't argue that the Z3 offers exactly this.

Let's face guys & girls, sales figures DO count for something and if they sold just under 300,000 of the things, then it must meet the needs of a popular market segment (in the same way as a TVR does, but for a different market segment).

I will start running now ...

A good friend of mine bought one for his wife. I would wind him up by asking if it came in Men's sizes.

Maybe BMW can think of something better?

Of course - but I would be buying it for me rather than for her - and that's my point !

I knew you were playing, but your mate needs a check up from the neck up. When I asked Mrs Flasher what car she wanted (convertible) she said " I like the C70 or the SLK, but if you bought me a Z3 I would divorce you..." I was tempted to go for the Z3... but plumped for the SLK over the Volvo.....everything Merc got right with the SLK, BMW got wrong with the Z3...

Hold on a second here guys. The Z3 may have its flaws but its certainly doesnt deserve the onslaught its getting here.

The car was designed to be a two seater roadster, in a market where the Porsche boxster and SLK were the only serious competitors. I'd rather have the Z3 out of the three because.

(1) It turns more heads than and SLK and isnt driven by guys trapped a mid-life crisis.
(2) There is no way I'd pay hefty amounts of cash for a 911 wannabe.
(3) FACT: The Z3M is quicker 0-60 than the beloved E36 M3 Evolution PLUS is nowhere near as common or as abused and thrashed PLUS only the serious out of us can handle the full 325 bhp and exploit it to the max-(hence excluding the said hairdressers)

The car turns heads in my opinion for the right reasons.

Yes, but at least if you get into your BMW you know you're going to get where you want to get to...

I have an M-coupe, which I swapped into after a Boxster and it is an excellent car - I needed something fun/fast that is reliable and I could use everyday (only 2 parking spaces), fit my briefcase and the odd box into, and that wasn't like everyone else's car - there are 5 boxsters on my street alone!

It's a shame the Z4 is not going to be M-powered
