My neighbour had one from new a grey 480 ES he bought a new car and left it in the garage for 10 years. When he died, I was approached by he's wife to see if i wanted it for £400, so I bought it to help her out, as always thought they were quirky and must be collectable. Wouldnt want to put anyone off, but I struggled to get my money back, so I would suggest tread wisely and research a little. Pics of my old one below

These were very badly built I had a 5 door turbo hatch version years ago and it had all sorts of electrical and water leak problems at less than 5 yrs old, and was numb to drive.

Alternative to the Scirocco back in the day but I believe they were built in the old Daf factory in Holland. I seem to recall quite good reviews but thet never really appealed to me, I must confess (bought a Scirocco Mk 2).

I used to help a friend keep hers going: only 3-4 years old, leaked like a sieve, comment 2 is bang on, lights forever seizing & popping motors, windows failing, & other assorted maladies, it was generally a nuisance. The engine felt gutless & just generally hard work. In comparison with what else was available at the time, a poor effort really, & the warranty costs shook Volvo hard, as they were used to the Swedish cars lasting forever. The later ones probably got better, because they had to, but by then the competition was even better. No doubt destined to be a "classic" though, when the rose tinted specs come out...rolleyes

They are basically a rebodied Renault 14 I think. They don't have much going for them except oddball'ness which I quite like.
