I've got a wierd knocking noise coming from the rear of the Cerb, kinda sounds like 2 snooker balls knocking together, it only appears to happen when I take my foot off the throttle and increases in time with the wheel rotation.

It doesn't happen when i'm accelerating or holding a constant throttle, only when I lift off, it still happens when i'm braking do it's not the brake pads clattering.
I've checked the wheels and they aren't falling off either and couldn't feel anything enbedded in any of the tyres.

Diff or driveshaft is my thought, does this sound reasonable? If it is I'm assuming being it's a Cerbera that the parts are cheap and easy to fit at home...

When you go round bends at speed, does the 'clanking' sound worse? If so, then its the diff IMO...
If its just a steady clanking no matter what you're doing, then it could just be a simple thing, like everything but the diff... hope I helped (I aint no joolz )

Not so as I noticed, the clanking got worse with speed but not with direction changes. It just suddenly started happening on the way home tonight.

IMHO it sounds like it could well be UJs - not a big bad job on most TVRs but I may well be wrong with the Cerb reading this forum - hope not though. It's the lifting the foot off the throttle that is a classic symptom of UJs failing.

...and after 5 miles this morning, the clanking stopped completely.

exhaust knocking on heat shield or undercarriage protector. Clearances are in mm's!!! Mine does something very similar. Gettin fixed next week at service :-)

Nah, I've got that too This was rythmic in tune with wheel rotation and didn't sound as tinny as the exhaust rattle.

I had similar, I changed the CV joints which cured the problem.

Not a difficult job, so hope your problem is as easy.

...and again on the half hour drive home no noise. Would the CV joints or UJ have intermittent symptoms?

check the rubber gators on the drive shafts, if they have split and the joint has run dry you may well get this sound, ive had this happen before on a ford, if so a temp fix is to re pack them with grease to get rid of the noise

Nope mine was constant, worse going round corners. My gaiters were shot

Well, I found out what the noise was...

The left rear driveshaft has five bolts connecting it to the diff where there should be six, and one of them was hanging half out.

I'll add "check the diff bolts" to the list of weekly tasks
