Hi All

Does anyone know what it would cost for an exhaust system for a 280i. Assuming the manifolds are ok?

Cheers Karl

When I was looking at that FHC at Douglas Valley I had a bit of a look for one, £500+vat seemed to be the going rate.

There were three exhaust layouts..Mine has the langford exhaust system..Or rather did..The manifolds are like rocking horse doo doo..The N/S manifold is a cortina 2.3 and the O/S is TVR engineering..The downpipes were TVR engineering..The mid box capri MK3..Mid pipes?..Rear box again i think were capri with jag wheel barrow tailpipes..There is no off the shelf system as far as im aware?..You can get the manifolds in stainless steel from ACT..Ziga

ACT will build you one for £425 plus VAT. I think that's great value. If you have a different system they will build you that but they may need the car.

Ah thanks Roy..I have just bought a set of stainless steel headers from ACT..I forgot that they can produce a full system..That is value for money..I know where i will be getting mine..Tim is a nice chap and will be coming to the fest..And bringing some goodies.. Can i just say that if you do buy any exhaust parts from ACT please give Tim feedback as regards to the quality as they are made by someone else and then sent out so he doesnt see them..And i dont mean moan about them....As you can see with mine..They look ok from the outside, The welds are a bit rough but im not too fussed about that..However the inside was a bit of a dissapointment..Although it wont effect performance..Cheers...Ziga

I had seen the ACT stainless which does look good value but is ONLY good for the "later" 280i's (not sure where the cut off is) so no good for mine.

They did say that they could "modify" one to fit my car but would need the car there and might be £££ x lots for the mods, so looking at a DIY 2" system for mine in time.

I think mine was £500 plus vat, tho its a custom job which has been routed nicely... Well if there were no speed humps on my road it would be a mint job frown

I had Custom Chrome in Nuneaton make a system up for my 350i. Did a great job and was FAR less than £500. See; http://www.custom-chrome.co.uk/index.htm
