chiropractor = back doctor
osteopath = quack
Correctly:osteopath = quack
chiropractor = quack
osteopath = quack
orthopaedic surgeon = back doctor
Neither chiropractic nor osteopathy are well rooted in actual medicine.

I think it's the other way around, on a training and regulation front...
Training and regulation has nothing to do with something working. There is quite a lot of training in chakras, but it's still crap.I've had experience of both and only one seemed to have any real medical understanding.

I think you really need to do your research and see what training they actually do!
Chiropractic is based on "innate intelligence" and similar made up bunk. The AMA said, "It is the position of the medical profession that chiropractic is an unscientific cult whose practitioners lack the necessary training and background to diagnose and treat human disease." Which is pretty clear cut really! People have died from chiropractic spinal manipulations that severed arteries.Osteopathy is actually very similar, despite osteopaths and chiropractors not really getting along.
I'd rather trust an actual doctor than some mystic healer, thanks.

Wow! Wikipedia and a badly written article! great research, you are a true expert in the field of complimentary medicine!
The fact you use the term "complimentary medicine" says it all."You know what they call complimentary medicine that's proven to work? Medicine." Tim Minchin.

Might I add that it's highly ironic that you're using badscience.net to criticize osteopathy while being a chiropractic supporter given Ben Goldacre (the author of badscience.net) is highly critical of chiropractic...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osteopathy
