Where is the best place to buy rainex. The chim windscreen is a nightmare when it is raining. I know I should take it out in th rain but what the heck its there to drive!!!

I got mine from Halfrauds. It was sitting there while I was getting something else so I grabbed a bottle.

Excellent stuff! Howling rain and I just drive along with the wipers on itermittent, if at all.

Has anyone tried in on the rear plastic screen? The bottle says 'not to be used on plastic' but if it doesn't do any damage it would really help see behind

We have used it on our demo car (Griffith 500) rear screen for the last 9 years without problems, it works really well on the mirrors too. Try it around the house like on the shower (glass) screen, uses are endless. All makers put caution warnings on products in case it reacts, as they do not know where it is going to be used. Always try on a small area first.

Does it work best in heavy rain? I put it on mine and still needed the wipers to clear of the drops when it was spitting intermittently....

I found it takes a couple of applications to work well but now rarely use the wipers above 30 mph. It does work better in heavy rain and light spray can be a problem (have to resort to wipers) but I love the stuff. Coming back from Whitby on Sunday evening I think I used the wipers two or three times and only then when stood in traffic.

I have used Rain-X for years. If you put on the first application, buff it off with a clean cloth, and then make a second application and do the same, the water should bead right up and roll off the windscreen above 25-30 mph. I have experienced the benefits of Rain-X
in the past on my wedge in driving rain and not needed the wiper! I now use it on my Taimar and my Land Rover.

I binned mine cos of repeated p*ss taking by 'friends'when admiring the griff in the garage.

Now use rainex.

Rain-X is available in Tesco / Asda / Halfords primarily and most car accessories shops in the UK.

The Rain-X brand is now owned by Shell but as yet is not available within the Retail outlets in the UK.

Rain-X Rain Wizard is actually a pretty old product which is being phased out (not because of the shape!) and only the Rain-X bottles and sachets will be available soon.

Instructions state not suitable for plastic and only works at speeds above 40mph. However, try it out on the plastic in a small area and if no damage then go ahead and use it (there are too many plastics out there for it to be applicable to all!) also works great in showers and on windows (which don't move at 40mph).
