Wedge heritage
Discussion
Hi Peeps..Today i was out in delilah..Which is always a good experience..Met up with chris for a coffee at danson park..Was offered 70 squidlies for delilah from a lady that was probaly as old..Bless!..Then when i left i had to take a diversion as a road was closed..I drove through a very bust high street and everyone was looking at me..People bibbing and saying what a lovely car..Little kiddies pointing and saying "Look at that racing car mum"..Chavvies saying "Yeah TVR innit"..Then as i was returning home i saw a young chap walking along the road with headphones on turn round and nod with a massive grin..Then when i pulled up outside i heard "Oh my days"..It was the young lad again..He said that he is wearing sound deadening headphones and playing loud music but still heard me coming and thought it was a motorcycle..He then proceeded to say .."TVR..Made in blackpool..Proper british hand built sportscar"..Nice..You dont see them anywhere..He was only sixteen..He also has a Rover SD1 with a 2.6 engine that he is restoring with his dad..He wanted to see my engine and when he did he commented how beautiful it was, It was so refreshing to hear that from a young dude..Then it made me realise that i have only ever seen one wedge in the 30 year gap from when i first fell in love with them in the mid eighties when i saw a red 350i with cream interior pull up outside a plush hotel in london..I can wish i had done it years ago but im so chuffed that im doing it now..Hopefully delilah will live on long after im gone and continue to bring joy to people as she does now..Yes the wedge is iconic of the eighties but also a part of hand-built british sportscar history..I love you delilah...

Just like "Dr. Hook" says, hey Zig?
When you're in love with a beautiful woman
It's hard
When you're in love with a beautiful woman
You know it's hard
Everybody wants her
Everybody loves her
Everybody wants to take your baby home
When you're in love with a beautiful woman
You watch your friends
When you're in love with a beautiful woman
It never ends
Tony. TCB.

I bet you checked yourself out in the shop windows as you cruised on by, didn't you Mark?
Don't blame you though I do the same.
When I taxed mine at the end of last month, a chap came up to me outside the postoffice (don't tax online folks keep our PO's open) and said:-
"TVR Tasmin isn't it, my dream car, couldn't afford to run one though"
So I told him what a bargain they really are, and he hung around whilst I fired her up.
He walked off muttering something about ebay and autotrader.

Great post Zig!
Exactly the sort of thing that convinced me to buy mine in the first place, rare and different and something that needs to be kept alive for future generations.
Being 23 I've got a looooong time to enjoy her aswell
(if we ever find time to do any more work on her that is lol)

(if we ever find time to do any more work on her that is lol)It is nice to see the "younger generation" appreciating these cars. (Makes me feel old!)
We've still to get Delilah and Wedgeinald together Zig....Must arrange it sometime?
Maybe with a few others wedgers? MonkeyKingZX would be welcome with or without his wedge! but might give him an incentive to get on with it...lol.

Hi Norman..Have you forgotten already?..You must be getting old..
What a lovely day that was...I was planning on doing the rounds this year if the weather was nice!..I still have your spare metering heads to return..Mind you its still early in the year..
It is nice that the younger generation..(Lucky buggers) are able to have the opportunity to enjoy a 20 + year old car that still does what it did then.."Bring a smile to your face"..And after you have driven one even if just once then you are already bitten by the TVR bug..I know they can be a bugger to fix and sometimes not so cheap to insure but all that goes out the window with just one drive.. You get a whole lot of car for your money which also comes with its own personality..Imagine how amazing it will be for someone 30 years down the line to stand there and say.."This is my 60 year old hand built british sportscar that still turns heads and puts a massive smile on my face"...Ziga

Funny, I had a similar experience about 10 years ago.
I used to own a rather run down Scimitar. Loved it to bits and it sounded fantastic------not a V8 though!
There was a young lad who lived along the road from us. One day whilst walking by with a mate he commented on how cool the car was.
Gives you faith!
We all have times when we're critical of others (younger generation and all that) and things like that just give a nice warm faith in humanity.......or maybe I'm just getting old! Best go and change the incontinence pants!!
Cheers

In a word....YES!
But as that was in "foreign parts" (north of watford!) my brain forgot to count it!!...lol (no offence meant of course)
Seriously it would be nice to get a few of the 280i's together down south sometime.
Can't believe it's almost June already, where has this year gone?

Yes "wedgeinald" (the first) was Silver and Blue, the red wedge is Technically Wedgeinald II (The second) who was bought initially as a "spares kit" but was too good to use for spares. So the roles were swapped (we did initially try and keep them both on the road but that proved beyond our means sadly)I have a calendar, i got two of you mate but not the BNG ones thanks for the offer though.

I'll stop posting multiple posts on the same thread now...
