Metro: Last Light
Discussion
Anyone playing this? Released today, I am about to go back into the Metro and scare myself silly
I really enjoyed 2033, makes a change from the Western FPS games and storylines. Ghosts, mutants, Nazis and flying beasties!

I got 2033 when it was given away on Facebook 6-12 months ago.

Finally got around to playing it a few weeks ago and turned it off after an hour, looks pretty, but the gameplay is/was dire. In that hour I guestimated I had control for about 15 minutes, and of that 15 minutes 5-10 was spent with it as a rail shooter.
It was very atmospheric, but the quantity and length of the cutscenes and QTE's turned me right off.
I run a 670 and i get near 60fps at all times. The game looks stunning, the no action required parts are seamless and fluid. The game seems fairly linear so far but I wouldn't describe it as on rails. It seems heavily story driven, and what I've seen so far, it looks promising. It is highly atmospheric and likely to make you jump in places.

I'm running a 570 with i7, got the graphics on high with SSAA off. Averaging 43fps on the benchmark thing, smoke and stuff bogs it down a bit so I might turn PhysX off too. I like the story and atmosphere, great style. Not had a game make me jump since Deadspace
Took me 90 minutes to get it running, I had it preloaded on Steam but it wouldnt get passed the Deep Silver splash screen. Needed a quick backup/restore and works fine now.

only played for three hours or so but i really like this so far. never played the first game but im not sure it matters, it seems i just blew up a bunch of dark alien creepys and one survived.
There is a couple of endings in 2033, Last Light presumes you went down the missile route! A nice open world version would be good so you can mooch around the whole metro system. I only got as far as when you first go outside to the crashed plane; kept running out of gasmasks and then Last of Us came out... haven't touched anything since (including GOW Judgement which I still haven't opened). Need to go back... must complete LOU on survivor first tho; I can't mix and match my games
