Hi,

Not sure if this belongs here, or in gadgets, but i was wondering if anyone has any experience of these quadcopters and whether the footage would be good for filming aerial footage of cars and events.

I understand they have a short battery life, but i guess this could be sorted by buying some extra battery packs.

The next step up would appear to work out at about £1000 which feels like too much for just the odd bit of video footage.

Any advice or opinions would be great

Many thanks

Hope I can help.... I've got one, not really used it enough but slightly underwhelmed by it.

It is a great fun gadget, however it is very light and needs pretty still weather, the camera is not great quality, fun yes but far from commercial quality, I bought a go pro hero3 black to attach to it, along with a bespoke mount and a battery delete cable, only hitch is the battery delete cable does not work with the black version....
Drone doesn't really have enough power to lift the gopro, might do if I butcher the drone bodywork and cut chunks out, but not reached that stage yet. None of this is the drones fault, it wasn't designed to attach a gopro to!

I want to use it to do videos of some of our venues and properties, works well inside ( big spaces!) and will do the job hopefully outside and be a different marketing slant, in fact I've just given it to one of my colleagues to go and master.

I suppose you could sum it up by the fact that he has now got it but I want it back at the end of next week!

As said above, the ar drone 2 is good fun, but only really in still conditions. I took this short video with the ar drone 2 standard camera but will be trying it with the GoPro camera on it when I have time, as the quality of the GoPro is far better.
