So,
Let's have all your thoughts!! I've got a choice to make between these two!!
To be kept for sunny days, and prob a keeper. 40k is the budget!!
I'm not a footballer, am a 'young' 40 yrs, with no kids yet!
If I followed my heart, the Aston would prob take it, but the GT is such a great car in many ways, it's a difficult one!
Looks, brand, heart says Aston, but engineering, power, drive ability says GT!
Over to you guys!!

Surely a test drive is your best option here?

Personally, having not even been in either, I'd be hard pressed to walk past the Aston. But the Bentley will probably be better screwed together.

Tough choice though, and an enviable one :-)

Drive both and pick the one you prefer? This isn't brain science.

The Aston will be making more visits to the dealership and the bills could be somewhat steep. A good car but not a keeper and one you certainly won't fall in love with. The GT is beautifully built, but not a great drive and certainly not 'special'. Interior space in both cars is lacking and for a weekend toy i would look elsewhere.

I believe both cars have annual service intervals, I suspect costs are rather similar.

I would test drive both, they are VERY different cars, good excuse for a fun Saturday!

I had (and to some extent still have) a similar choice recently. I didnt especially like either tbh. The Aston just didnt excite me (other than the looks) and the Bentley felt sluggish and like driving an old boat. Drove the Aston Vantage which I liked more but you would need the 4.7L engine which was slightly out of my price range.

In the end I will probably go down the Porsche route. I bought a Cayenne Turbo that was probably a mistake (amazing car but not really what I set out to do, not good at compromising!) and will end up with a 911 of some though. Not sure which one yet but either a 997 gen 1 or 2 or maybe even a early 997 turbo.

Hi
I've driven both, and they are different...
The DB9's gearbox is a little 'tricky', as the throttle / auto is way too sensitive around town to be 'enjoyable'. I guess it would just take some getting used to.
The GT is without doubt THE best place I've sat in. The one I tried had a black interior with gloss black wood, and it is stunning...the DB9 is very nice too, but just not as good.
For sure, the DB9's V12 howls like it should, compared to the GT, which is actually quite quiet...
Both are quick, but the GT gives more of a sense of seamless power....
Going to be tough decision!

Always been an Aston man. Those looks and that V12 are hard to pass up, despite the issues.

Try the DB9 in sport mode. Gear changes and throttle response are much sharper. It's usually the second button I press when I get in mine...the first being the starter.

Some of the build stories about DB9s would worry me.

Given that both cars drive well and perform adequately as GTs I would suggest they it comes down to looks and image. For me the Bentley no longer looks fresh in any way and I find it difficult to get past the wideboy / footballer image. Aston have done a better job of iterative development and I think the DB9 still looks like a lovely car irrespective if age.

I have owned a Conti GT and currently have an Aston so some experience of both cars.

Let us know where you get to - great dilemma whatever you go for.
