Driving up to Cumbria with my good lady wife yesterday, lovely drive (V8V), sunny in places and dry. Eventually driving through the lakes, so we opened the windows to take in the lovely Cumbrian air, really nice.cloud9
So eventually it came a time to close the windows. My wife closed her window as I went to close mine. As my drivers window was closing I heard a clicking noise and the window just slowed to a crawl. Then it stopped and I heard a twang sound and the window stopped.mad
When I pulled over nothing was happening with the window, the motor was clicking away but no movement. I couldn't leave it down so gently pulled the window up to its limit so at least it would be closed. I then saw a small silver wire sticking up between the window and the top of the wall. So looks like the cable the lifts the window with the motor has broken. furious
I'm staying in Cumbria for a couple of days and have to keep checking the window is still up and hasn't fallen down. To top it all off its raining quite hard at the moment so fingers crossed while it is parked it will stay up.
I'm not looking forward to driving home as it may be raining and I fear driving over any bumps in the road my cause the window to drop down and will make me very very grumpy
I have contacted my dealer at home and they are going to try and get this repaired under warranty!! Somehow I think that will not be a problem, so I should get it repaired next week sometime.
Has anyone else had this happen to them which has caused problems.

I've had this happen on a Z4 and a Golf - it's "one of those things". Kudos to your dealer if it can be fixed under warranty! If you happen to have a sat nav sucker mount - simply stick to the inside of the window, so it braces against the main door - this should help keep it in the "up" position.

Enjoy cumbria!
