Inspired by the David Beer discovery that you could use whiskey tumblers in place of the normal front indicators, I decided to give it a go myself.
I couldn't find a set of suitable tumblers and instead ended up with these...
Total cost was probly around £17 with Philips silver bulbs.

Those t light holders or whatever they're called. Exactly the right size and a good shape and look pretty strong. You could also get them in other colours
TVRForever. Whiskey tumblers are straight whiskey glasses, normally a thick bottom to them. Check out mod-wise.com to see what they look like in Mr Beers car
Very easy to do. With the holder it was easier to keep the original and just replace the orange lens. The actual units on my car came lose pretty easily with a bit of brute pushed back into the car.
The new "lens" was slightly too small at 75mm and needed sealant to attach them
I let it partially set to hold the lens before fully sealing it.
Refitting was a bit tricky but a small amount of super glue to hold them in place was fine until the new sealant was applied.

You can get the clear lenses too. These were the side lights on the MoD vehicles.

I guess the advantage with using glass is that it matches the driving lights and headlights which is why I went for the Beer look rather than the MOD ones. Both look good however IMO, it's just a bit embarrassing knowing that mine are 24p t-lights but I can live with that.

Glass looks good, i think better than plastic. On cars with "complicated lens" paterns, the plastic looks ok, certainly better than orange ! On a car with clear glass headlights, ie Tuscan, the glass is a must. With my Tuscan stylee lights i tried many different types of plastic, on that sunny Sunday afternoon when i saw the the bottom of the G&T,(hi Fred, i will confuse you here, a gin&tonic in a whiskey tumbler!) i almost ran to the Griff with the tumbler in my hand, well waddled a bit.

It looks like you put a great deal of effort into getting the right look before finding the tumbler in your hand(ooo errr). I'm more than pleased with the outcome as you've probably guessed
After spending an hour or so to get the off-side one to stay where it's supposed to be I can also see the advantage that a tumbler would have. Once placed in the indicator hole it will support itself and with some sticky padding it shouldn't move. The down side is that you have to cut the original unit down to fit into the tumbler but all in all probably an easier option.
