Have just removed the rear silencers as I was bored, and upon starting it up I thought I had unleashed a top fuel dragster as the noise was immense and the car was shaking! Has anyone done the same and run it on the road as the exhaust ends quite close to the diff and on mine it's a tad oily and I'd rather not have the ass end on fire! smile

Hey Ged,
You should have heard "Tony Cerbera" Cerb at TiTT9, he had straight through exhausts and it was spot on, as loud as you like smile Made me laugh everytime i heard him.

I might see if I can get some straight through rear pipes made locally if its not recommended in running the car without anything there! smile

It's great fun for short trips but don't try a long journey like that.

I went from hee in Ireland to the South of France a couple of years back with the car de-catted and sports pipes fitted and it was a constant headache ..... literally.

Not good.

just had some rear tails made for my speed six' out of SS. Took some time measuring and developing the bends and producing the dimesions then got PIPEWERX to bend. £30 pounds each + vat complete with flared ends to fit over the 54mm pipes on the main exhaust. If anyone wants the dims Ill post on here. (only issue I went for 2" to keep a bit of back pressure.

I think the poice have limited options regarding TVR's.

As they were made in limited numbers and not mass produced I believe several rules that apply to other cars are not enforcable in such a car and I believe noise is one of them.

I could very well be a mile out on this though so would be inetersted to hear from someone who actually knows what I am talking about;-)

The way I drive the police not liking the noise is the least of my worries!

So does anyone know if using the car with no rear pipes at all is safe to do?

...I have to admit we are in the process of retrofitting a relatively standard silencer set up to Grant's old Cerb as it is waaay too loud for us boxedin

I don't think it's wise to run an exhaust that doesn't exit clear of the grp

Did anyone want the dimensions I sent PIPEWERX for forming the 2" pipe.

1 off - 200mm straight 45 deg bend +90 deg rotation then 235mm straight then 45 deg bend -180 degree rotation then 100mm straight then 10 deg bend +90 deg rotation then 180mm straight
1 off - 200mm straight 45 deg bend +90 deg rotation then 235mm straight then 45 deg bend -180 degree rotation then 100mm straight then 10 deg bend -90 deg rotation then 180mm straight

The 200mm end is to be expanded to 54mm ID (Sp6)

Only charged me £30 each + VAT

Several reasons, such as:
1. Dangerous exhaust gases potentially entering the cabin area.
2. Hot exhaust gases causing damage to the underside of the vehicle.
3. Remaining exhaust insecure, by not using the rearmost hangers due to rear section removal, you will be relying only on the small bobbin on the back of the undertray to hold it in place

But why advertise?

Drawing attention through noise is a sure way to have people misinterpret your behaviour.

If you are in any doubt then you need to watch 'C'etait un Rendezvous' and then after, and only afterwards, you need to watch the 'making of'.

Claude Lelouch is a genius.
