Do not own one but can answer a few of your questions as I was lucky enough to do an AMG Track Day last month and got to spend a fair amount of time in an SL 63 around Philip Island, Australia. Beautiful car. Of the 4 types of AMG cars I drove that day (C63 coupe and sedan, SLK 55 and CLS63) it definitely felt like it had the most grunt. Not quite as nimble as the C63s or the SLK55 and definitely a bit twitchy and tail happy compared to the others - and of the 4 probably the one that could most get you into trouble if you went looking for it. In short fantastic car arguably most happy when asked to travel quickly on good roads but still would be great fun on a track day or belting it along windy roads, albeit potentially with a dark side if you really got into it.
I've got one on order. Drove one a few times prior to purchase, they are fantastic IMO. Lots of thrust, smooth, comfortable, all the gadgets, oh and did I mention the grunt?
They will chip tune to 670 bhp btw and yes they like to go sideways especially with the LSD.. Have a look at the Chris Harris video.
Dealers will do a great deal, have a look on the MB website for the SL63 offers and go from there.

Current offer is about 17k finance contribution and low rate finance
Given what I considered to be decent spec was coming in at 135k I figured it would lose to much in depreciation - as there are some around sub 90k on 2012 cars
Quite fancy one at some stage though- I didn't drive in the end but interior is different league from last model

MB website has indicates good deals available, low APR and big dealer contribution to finance. Has anyone experience of bettering the deal? Normally I would like at a demonstrator to motivate first year depreciation but I can't see how demonstrators can get down to the effective net price of new cars available
From trying this recently - I was only offered the discount with the finance - as per my earlier post circa 17k. Discount is fixed so would make high spec car circa 120k which to me sounded like it would mean an immediate 20-30k depreciation hit. When you go through the options - I wanted the magic roof, carbon exterior pack, electric wind deflector, parking sensors and couple of other bits it soon jumps up.
As there are cars for sale around 90k on 13 plates it didn't make much sense
One dealer had 2 nice spec cars for sale at ok price. Never replied to my email. Another dealer told me there was no room for discount off their advertised price then reduced it by 5k on the website the next day. One dealer was going to call and email me 2 weeks ago following me visiting their showroom on the bank holiday Monday - still waiting
It's funny that I have had 4 Mercs now and only brought one from an authorised dealer - despite trying. In 2 week window that this "dialogue" with dealers was going on I ended up buying/paying/collecting my SLS from an Independent. Glad I did cos its fab but I genuinely was interested in an sl63 and will probably get one someday
Note the finance offer effectively is for cars already built as it expires sometime in the summer - maybe next contribution will be even higher though

My dealer was offering a straight £20,000 discount a couple of months ago, I think they would probably knock a touch more off. I'm still not sure about the looks of this model, it's not as nice looking as the previous version. I haven't seen any on the road so guess they are not selling very well.
