No claims bonus stored

Im currently insured with classic line who tell me they have stored my 8 yrs no claims bonus, is this true.I only have one car now so im not using my no claims bonus with classic line as its a classic car insurance, has anybody else heard of no claims being stored. I always thought if you did not use your no claims they expire within 3 years.
