Hi, I have a CTEC MXS 5.0 battery conditioner in the garage that I would like to use on the Griff. Trying to decide on hard wiring into the car and mounting in the boot or mount outside the car and plug in using either cig lighter or terminals connected to the battery placed in easy to reach position.

Any thoughts?

I've wired a fused spur from the battery to underneath the centre console. You just move the handbrake gaiter to pull it our for use. Much simpler than trying to get to the battery smile

I`ve hard wired from battery which terminates to behind the drivers seat. The Ctek mounted in garage roof space above. Dead easy to connect.

I also have used the cig lighter for the last five years and no problems.

My CTEK came with a nice loom plug assembly, which connects to the opposite on the charger. I actually made a short loom up pushed through the large grommet under the wiper on the inner wing, which feeds right through into the footwell battery area. This loom is then terminated at the battery with crimped ring terminals that are fixed to the battery via the clamp bolt. At the other end of this loom I soldered the 'free ends' of the CTEK loom cable covering the joint with heatshrink sleeving, then the whole loom was covered with the braided type cable sleeve, this was then finished off at the ends with silcon sleeving. So the 'new' loom plug assembly is cable tied to existing car loom (AFM feed), then about 250mm of remaining is neatly tucked down the side of the AFM housing. So, I flip the bonnet put my hand in pull out the connector loom, plug in to CTEK connection then switch on. When car is left for periods with the cover on I feed the CTEK cable into the open area at the front of the bonnet and connect up, shut bonnet and leave! I find this a much better method for me rather than having door or window open. All the best, Pete

Thanks for the advice guys. Will take a closer look when I get my hands on the car to see what works best in my garage.

Think I am leaning towards doing the same Steve as keeps the unit portable for use in other cars.

I found the cigar lighter socket to be a bit hit and miss, sometimes it would stop charging.

I've fitted flying leads to all of my toys (I've just changed the connector type) and fitted a Superseal connector to my crocodile clips so I can use either of my chargers on the whole toybox smile

No pics of the new lead on the TVR but you get the idea...
