W204 heated seat controls

Quick one for those in the know. I am interested in a C350 CDi estate, the car I've found has a really great spec but I am not sure whether it has heated seats or not (a bit of a deal broker for SWMBO). I note that on most W204s the heated seat buttons if fitted are underneath the radio and HVAC controls on the dash.

On the car in question I can't see these buttons in the dealer pics but it does seem to have fully electric seats with the controls down by the centre console so I'm wondering whether if the car has the electric seats if the bum warmer controls are located there? Would seem a weird thing not to have specced on the car but from my experience MBs usually have the heater buttons on the dash even if fitted with powered seats.

Am calling the dealer in the morning but just wondered if someone here knew.

• update* dealer amazingly responded to my email with a call. No it doesn't have heated seats but apparently you can retrofit them easily to MBs with an official kit? I've some recollection of hearing about this before, is it true?

They can be retrofitted but you need a new fascia and the complete kit - not sure about price but not cheap.

If it has fully electric seats, the controls are on the door directly in front of the interior door handle. Very obvious in a photo:



The 350 comes with partially electric seats as standard (I believe) - I've been looking at the spec list quite a bit since that's my new car above and I'm picking it up later this week. Even with over £10k of options mine has 3 blank switches between the heated seat buttons. I know one is for the Sport button if you have the dynamic handling package. Lord only knows what the other two might be used for.

Think that would be switches (x2) for cooled seats (!) and the switch for the electric rear blind.

Interesting, yes, up on the door card is fairly traditional MB. This car definitely has some controls on the inside edge of the seat bases and also looks to have buttons on the door cards too.

Could they be massage seats? Odd to have specced that and memory pack but not seat heaters.

Nice spec! The controls on the inside edges of the seats are for the multi-contour seat adjustment (not the same as massage), worth having if you do long distances. The colour and trim combination on that car look great.

Aha, that solves it. Yeah, the spec and colour combo really appeals (it's the same as one of my other cars and a bit different). Thanks gents, I'll see if the dealer and I can reach a deal.

You do realise that car has Artico seats, not leather, don't you? It's very good though - apart from the fact it isn't actually leather, it works just as well.

It's bonkers MB doesn't fit heated seats as standard - they're standard on E Class.

Yeah, artico is fine, in some ways better than the real thing. You're right that not including heated seats as standard is a bit odd, or even at least it being part of the equipment included when you tick the "fully electric" seats box.

Well, we did agree a decent price including fitting aftermarket bum warmers. So, should have it on Saturday where it can join my wife's SLK (a 230k r170 we've had from new that is on 94k miles now and is a keep forever car) and my QP (which is the car with the same colour scheme) on the drive.

Quite pleased to have another MB as the SLK has been an absolutely fantastic car.
