Hi.... Bought this last week ready for the summer (if we get one).

I was all set to buy a silver 2.4 V6 but then my brother (an Audi service manager)informed me that the 2.4 is from the old model, and that the 3.0 (he knew i wouldn't be interested in a 4-cylinder)was the way to go - As it gives better performance, more power, more torque but is lighter and more fuel efficient than the the 2.4....

So, after some searching i found this car. It had a full Audi and specialist service history and the Multitronic gearbox is in fine fettle. It has some nice options, with the only thing that i wish it was fitted with being Cruise control.

The colour is Aquamarine, which seems to have a faint pearl gold hue to the blue in bright light. In the pictures it looks like some of the panels have bad colour match, but in the metal it all looks fine).....

It's going to my local Audi dealer for a full once over and for their smart repairer to refurb the wheels and touch up a couple of little marks. And i am going to have all the badges removed (apart from the front and rear 'rings'
If a set of 18" (B6) S4 Avus wheels present themselves for sale, i'll probably buy them and fit them to the car.

Looks really nice, you were right to go for the 3.0!

A mate had a B6 with S6 wheels a while back, I really like them - may even get a set for a Bora that I'm hoping to get in the future..

I forgot that the cabriolets have larger exhausts too smile

That saloon looks brilliant - if I had a 4 door or an estate I would want that exact look.

Nice car, OP. I think that like the earlier 80 Cabriolet these B6 Cabriolets have aged well. I much prefer the original headlamps and grille too.

WRT the Multitronic, before buying his Cabriolet my Dad spoke to a transmission specialist familiar with them and learnt that it's not a case of 'if' but 'when' they fail, which resulted in him going for a manual car. I guess you're OK having a contact at Audi and wonder if you can pass on any preventative measures that you've been made aware of by him?

Well, my brother would normally tell me to stay well clear of anything that he see's regularly in the workshop - For example, when i was thinking of buying a late D2 Audi A8, he warned me to stay well away, sighting that they are regularly in the workshop and never do they have a bill under £1000.

When i mentioned i was looking for a Multitronic, he mentioned that whilst they do come in with problems they are A: not that frequent in comparison to all the Multitronic cars that come in with no issues and B:That it seems to be an issue more with the 2.5 TDI (Torque related)?

Gearbox fluid changes every 40k help too!

Thank you, that's useful. I've been looking at these for my girlfriend and the Auto would actually be a preference. It is the 1.8T I'm looking at so a lot less torque than the multi-cylinder engines.

Cheers.

Something worth noting is that if you buy a Quattro you get the normal Tiptronic (Full Auto) gearbox - Well on the 3.0, i'm not sure about the 1.8T

Ahh, OK. Thanks. Being honest I would prefer the FWD; I've been very impressed with my Dad's one and can't see the extra complexity of Quattro being worth it in my/our case.
