Cayman 2.9 Noisy Clutch release bearing?

Hi all,
I have a 2012 Cayman 2.9 manual with 8k miles. I noticed after a run on Sunday that there was a feint but noticeable rattle from the engine area on tick over which disappeared when depressing the clutch. I have it booked into my OPC on Thursday to investigate but I just wondered if anyone has any experience of these models developing noisy clutch release bearings or could it be something more sinister in the actual gearbox?
