Thought it was about time I learnt to handle the Z4MC in the same manner I did the e34 M5. Only because the Z4 seems so much snappier when you're trying to slide/drift it, possibly due to sitting so close to the rear wheels rather than in the middle of a 4-seat cabin.

So anyone else attending this?

So as you're the expert, I shouldn't try to get the car a 60 degrees on the first corner?

Im no expert, you have all day to build up so no need to go crazy on lap 1. Some bends are a lot more slippy so you'll get used to that first

This is right up my street... need to do a track day or two to wear down the tyres first though!

Let me know how it goes and if you recommend it smile

It's a low grip circuit and they've said the only way I'd use more than 1mm of tread was if I was doing burnouts on the approach roads.

Zero tire wear, like said it is very wet and very skippy. Great for learning car control and getting used to opposite lock. Only problem is your car gets very dirty from the wet track, also on a week day you have a lot of track time

It's dirty from my London to Liverpool commute anyway, so a bit more dirt won't harm it.

Hopefully some of the holes at the edge of the track have been filled in - as I wouldn't want to rip something off if I accidentally go wide.

There's also a test day on the main track that day, and I've got some friends who may be taking their Kumho BMW there for the test day.

That was great fun, I only did a couple of hours as I didn't want to break anything but really enjoyed it. Who says you can't drift an MR2? hehe

Excellent video. I knew I should have filmed my laps, but I was planning on leaving all the gear in the boot until I was comfortable with the track, but never actually got it out :-(

On a side note there must be so much crap in that pond, the dirt has taken a load of clear coat off my paint. Luckily in an area which is due a respray.

They normally do sound quiet & raspy, but Rogue Diablo rear cans sort that out yes

Would have loved to have a switchable titanium one, but they're £2k second hand. I picked these Diablos up 2nd hand for £600 from someone who bought them and thought they were too loud. Not had a problem with their volume in 30k miles, and never been refused track access due to noise limit.

Trying to get some M-Powered mates to come to the next one, so there might be 4 or 5 e34 M5s there. Of course they're all threatening to come in their boring daily drives (e46 330ci, e46 330 touring, e34 525i).

However, it looks like the day was not as cheap as I'd hoped, as despite my rears having 4mm when I started, they're VERY close to requiring replacement now. I keep telling myself that I obviously mis-measured them in the first place wink
