Fiat Coupe - insured as a modern classic?
Discussion
(i did search, apologies if covered)
due to a change of circumstances, i'm looking to get a fiat coupe for a weekend toy / "spare" car for the odd commute.
i presently have a tr7 for this, but looking to change to the above as they have 2 more seats and are 'arguably' more reliable...
at present i am open minded on model / engine at this stage, but has anyone had / got one of these insured "cheaply" as a modern classic / limited mileage second car.
for example, the tr7 costs around £150/y to insure - can a coupe be covered for less than £200?
thanks in advance...

I have a 10 yr old GTV V6 on 5k miles per year & garaged on a classic policy with approved valuation. I pay £260 a year for that - I'm 42. If your circumstances are similar and depending on which engine coupe then £200-250 sounds a possibility. Garage seems to be a must on any classic policy
perfect, thank you. just checking as i'd hoed they'd be comparable, but of course, a 1982 car is different to a 1999+/- car in terms of performance, value etc. good to hear some insurers entertain "modern classics".
my circumstances are similar so hopefully prices will be just as palatable, many thanks.

I have a 1995 Alfa 155 Q4 which has the same engine as the fiat coupe 16V turbo and I have a group limited mileage policy with Adrian Flux - the car costs around £160 per year to insure; despite being substantially modified, imported and LHD to boot. Renewal is next month so I will see what they have to say.
My Fiat Coupe 20VT with declared performance modifications to 320bhp, owners club discounted classic insurance, 5000 miles per year, approved valuation, cost me around £400 per year. I'm 41 and live in a low risk area.

After a decade of running a modded Coupe as a daily driver, I have just bought an Alfa GT as a commuting hack
This means I can now use the FCCUK-arranged cover on the Coupe - under £300, which is pretty good considering the power is closing in on 500bhp.
