Steve Earle

Just got back from seeing Steve Earle at the Royal Festival Hall. Wow what a gig. He was really on form and his band were great. One thing that stood out was the lack of anyone holding a bloody phone up to video the show mindlessly, and in the quieter passages I suddenly realised couldnt hear anyone talking which was fantastic.

Its been a long time since ive been to a gig that wasnt spoiled by inconsiderate aholes who shoudl have been in the pub talking over it all, a really refreshing and welcome change. Especially when it was such a good show.

His guitar player had a b-string bender on one of his teles which he used to great effect, love the sound of one used well.

He played both. Great version of Guitar town. Copperhead Road was also good but a tad too much distortion on his mandalin i thought. Still great though.

We saw him at Symphony Hall Birmingham on Monday night. Great show. As always.
Galway girl, Copperhead road, excellent.
No Hometown Blues though. Bah.

I'm going to throw this out to the Steve Earle fans here.

I recently bought a Creeden Clearwater Rivival album and there's a rift in the middle of Born on The Bayou which sounds so much like a Steve Earle rift.

I've tried Googling both artists and song name but there's no common ground. I think it's possibly Conspiracy Theory but from the live American Boy album rather than Jerusalem.

Sure wish I heard it before I spoke to him after the concert in Bristol a couple of months ago.

Any other ideas?
