Unable to uplift Norton AntiVirus definitions

I had no problems updating Norton AntiVirus Virus Definitions until I installed SP2. Now whenever I check the status on Norton AntiVirus, it tells me that the Virus Definitions are out of date (even though live update should be running all the time)

Tried to update manually but it fails & says it's because "live update" is still running in the background ! - seems like a viscious circle. Yes I've tried turning off live update but to no avail.

Any ideas folks ?

I have to say I'm not what you might call PC literate although can follow reasonably straightforward instructions, so nothing too technical please.

Save the first link 20041004-022-i32.exe to somewhere on your HD, then run it.

For some reason that's beyond me, Live Update and this manual method seem to be different.
