As title really, looking for a place that does the trailer test.

However, i don't want to do the £500 block crap, i just want a couple of lessons and the test as i used the old freeby last summer as a tow car and had no issues with it really.

Need to get the test as my licence lets me do 3500kg max, for car, trailer and load. The freeby MAM was 2080kg so i could get a way with 1420kg of trailer and test.

The D3 MAM is 3200kg, so i have 300kg for trailer and load.. which is no use for me as i need the car and trailer to continue part 2 of the garden refurbish.

So, who's good, and who's crap?

Looking at the removable tow bar and electric's on ebay and the prices are interesting to say the least..

I did my B+E test with Drive me Banana's http://www.drivemebananas.co.uk/trailer.html

Jonathan was great - did one two hour lesson with him and then sat the test, with a one hour lesson before. No previous experience of towing and passed first time.

Think it was £30 an hour for the tuition and the test takes an hour so I ended up paying £90 for lessons, £130 for the test to DVLA plus one hour of car and trailer hire = £250.00.

He is based between Edinburgh and Glasgow and can't recommend him highly enough.

Also just saw your comment about the Disco 3. My understanding is that your towing limit of the Disco will be 3500kg, so you can two 3.5 ton which is massive and there is pretty much nothing else out there that beats the Disco for towing ability.

Cheers for the info.

Sounds exactly what i'm after! biggrin

Aye, the D3 has a 3500kg towing limit and the D3/4 wins the best tow car award nearly every time it enter's.

Just need to buy the electric's and detachable tow bar. Which is likely to cost the same as the test.. rolleyes

Only thing beats the towing if you own a yank pick up

I'm plated to tow 5.6 ton

Handy when you got heavy good licence

Ebay has genuine lR electric's for £105, plus delivery.
A detachable tow bar seems to go for £90-150, depending on condition and bidding activity, plus delivery.

Then i'll need to get it on a diagnostic to get the electric's working, £60.

2 grand? Ouch!
