I was perusing Fernies site - just to keep Ted's points up when I noticed that although they now advertise as a non-franchised dealer they still have their old warning about buying your used TVR from anyone other than a main dealer -
quote:

The moral is:- if you want a guaranteed used car which has been fully checked, fully prepared and serviced which will be warranted for the next 12 months - then buy from a TVR Dealer. If you want to take a gamble and save a couple of thousand pounds (possibly) then buy from a non-franchised source.

This seems a bit at odds now - come on guys sort it out

I read the stuff on their site the other day and thought it sounded a tad barking. How long have they been de-franchised?

I'm sure I pointed that out a few days after they announced it... they obviously don't care though!

Sorry to buck the trend of near derogatory comments here, but I still rate Fernies even now that they are non-franchised.
Had my TVR serviced recently by them again and its running better than ever.
So far in my dealings with them, I haven't had ANY bad (or near bad) experiences.

OK so the web site needs a bit of updating, as longs as the service is still good what the hell.

I don't know anything about them at all, but can't help feeling they are being a bit short sighted having a section of their website outlining the potential risk of non franchised dealer stock over franchised equivalent when they are no longer franchised. A phrase containing foot, own and shooting springs to mind.

Phil,

Not sure why you think the comments a derogatory on this thread?

I have heard only good about them, but the website just amused me with it's warning.

Having bought my beloved Chimaera at Fernies over a year ago I can only sing their praises from a service and customer satisfaction point of view.

I understand the comments about not buying TVR’s from anyone expect main dealers though

Just had a quick look over Fernies site and the above quote (IMHO) is probably taken a bit out of context as it refers to buying TVR’s from private sources and not franchised or non-franchised dealers.

…and no I don’t work for them.

Cheers

Oh no.... another bloody Psycophantic "I love Fernies" thread, I can feel flasher about to be censored by Ted....

It's Fernhurst, not f*****g poncy,Eton-esque "Fernies"

and then there was my experiences with them..... OK Ted I'll stop there.... but all dealers have unhappy customers I will admit. What annoys me is that they quite openly and snootily advertised that non-frachised dealers are to be avoided and now they themselves are non-franchised they probably wish they hadn't said it in the first place...

Methinks they should alter their website....

Yeah I'm from darkest Northern.....London, so that pisses on that theory. What's wrong with calling them Fernies? I'll tell you, apart from the fact that it sounds monumentally psycophantic and hooray henry, they are just a bloody car dealer (allegedly) so why give them a poncy nickname?? I know several people that have good reason to call them something less flattering and at risk of upsetting Ted, I've got some names for them myself after they upset me with their outrageous trade in value for my Griff... but that was their loss not mine....as I spent my £40,000 somewhere else....

So, In summing up, Bollocks to Fernies, it's Fernhurst. Some people (and I think it's most by what I read) think they are great, and that's fine by me. But some don't and I will always be here to even up the argument, thats what this website is for isn't it?? I have no doubt every dealer has this, we all get it wrong sometimes, no doubt people like me are in the minority but that doesn't mean we have to keep quiet, does it? and it doesn't alter the fact that their website tells you to avoid non-franchised dealers when they are one themselves....
