Engine turns over several times prior to firing but only when hot. Cold starts are fine, first time every time.

I think it is because my injectors need sorting, does this sound plausible?

????

But mine does that. I hope to get the injectors from my spare engine reconned and then put them into the current engine.

Any more views or advice for myself and Wildfire who both have this problem?

What's the consensus, could it be injectors?

On the 2.8 there is the hot start relay which is there to provide a short pulse of the cold start injector if the thermotime switch says 'hot'. Disconnected it can give the same symptoms.

Dont know if they still use it on the 2.9?

In any case this relay is subject to getting wet.

I don't know if it is similar to the V8, but fuel can boil in the rail when it gets hot. This creates air locks etc and it can take a few seconds before cold fuel cools it down.
