My windscreen washers havent worked since i got the car, so thought i would get in and have a look. The old pump is dead, but there appears to be ~30volts going to the pump. No wonder it blew, as the pump says its 12 volts. Can i easily step down the voltage to 12? i have bought a new pump, but am sure to blow it if i connect it. Or will a 24 volt pump do? unless i cant easily step down the voltage, then i guess its a 24volt pump?

Advise welcome.

how have you manage to measure 30volts, the battery voltage is only 12volts. max 12.7 whilst charging?

oh, maybe my volt meter thingy is misreading. It did perplex me. hmm will fit the new 12 volt pump and go from there.

Yes, I'd say you have an issue with your meter!
