More people have been killed in road crashes in Cornwall so far this year than in the whole of 2003.
Since January, 35 people have died in collisions on the county's roads. The total for 2003 was 31.
Police say the number is expected to rise even further because of seasonal increases in crashes during the winter months.

He said: "If you're driving at speed and you clip a kerb, you're probably going to bounce off a hedge or hit something coming the other way.
"It's not like being on a dual carriageway, there's just no extra space on small rural roads."
The DfT report also says young people are most at risk, and are under the misconception that it is safe to speed on rural roads.

You know, that really irritates me. As we've discussed on numerous occasions there's an awful lot more in the cause of an RTA than speed. So why the silly pictures.
I've half a mind to visit my favorite bit of B road and see if the de-limiter works now.
Cornwall has some country lanes just like any other county, it also has some lovely roads just like other county, so to blame it on small roads is wrong.
Blame it on bad driving - if thats the evidence YES but not the same rubbish as speed.
So the cameras have not cut deaths in Cornwall then... I wounder why not...

What happened to the original Streetcop. You know, the one prior to reading that a neighbouring force had chiefs breathing down their neck for posting on public forums. You know, the one who prior to sitting inside a scam van for a day used to post sensible,(mostly), well thought out constructive posts. The current Streetcop seems to prefer posting endless pictures from the web, and re quoting the "speed kills" mantra.
Come on Gary. Lets get back to the old, the original, and still the best (

Some motorists and Transport Minister David Jamieson think education is the answer
So Mr J - why ain't we getting it? TV adverts?Bring them back - quite liked "You Wooden Top" - grreat classic car on it too.
(The dodgy parking one was a blinder
) Strassen
Liebchen - area where I live has lots of rural roads - und regardless of my little crunches mit Steviebabes when he has been bold und brave enough to face us on here - I will give him the bit of respect that is due to him - even though I do not agree with him on subject of scams -you will find on his site's home page - there is nice little extract from AA on topic of country driving, what to look for und weather fronts affecting us, und the dangers of sheep and cats on prowl ...... and what to have as emergency supplies in the boot! (I am fair minded). But people are not necessarily speeding when they have these crunches. Accidents happen for lot of different reasons und speed is far down list of actual causation.
The accident which occurred in the hailstorm - visibility would have been poor und we are not told what she collided with - car or tree? Even low speed impact mit latter - sufficient to kill..... und accident down to poor weather conditions, perhaps inexperience of driving and even if she had the experience - may not have been able to avoid accident if circumstances and luck were against her.
I also note that road engineering and better road design were mentioned in this article. It looks like Mr J is at last looking beyond end of his long Pinochio nose at long last!
Perhaps he is reading these sites and taking note of what a good many of us are saying.
Perhaps he has read the many letters which each member of this family has been sending to DfT even....
Perhaps we will begin even to see less speed cams and more cops .... in time ....
But then again .... moon is made of cream cheeses too...

Ladies and Gentlemen...
I have edited this post to clarify that my posts on here will be the views of myself and not those held by the police service as a whole.
The information that I pass on here, is non classified and could be found by internet interrogation and research. I'm just acting as a facilitator.
In the meantime, I have the pleasure to remain;

Streetcop, I have a suggestion for you.
Remember the AA patrols, who didn't salute members to indicate a speed trap ahead - giving information by omission?
When you're posting from the heart, include your little "policeman" smiley.
When you're doing your "more than my jobs worth" bit, leave it out, and we'll know you're typing with your fingers crossed.
I notice you left it out of the "kill your speed" post.
Maybe you already started...?
