BRITISH F3/GT CHAMPIONSHIPS

I will be going to the British F3/GT Championships on Sunday can someone tell me the best place to take photos of the racing at Silverstone racing circuit as I have not been before.
I will have a 70-200 lens with a 1.4 converter making 380 approx.
I am looking for somewhere with no high fences and fairly close to the track.

Don't go right up to the fence if it means ducking under the guard rail that surrounds 99% of the circuit. If you do no one will say anything to you but I suspect it is why there is heavy handed security people patroling these areas at high profile events trying to stop folks taking pictures from even legitimate areas. Don't think that you need to be right up to the fence to shoot through it. You can shoot through it at pretty much every spot without ducking under the barrier with fairly reasonable results

You can get right up to the fence in the disabled area on the exit of Luffield and there is a low fence inbetween the grandstands overlooking Vale however this gets crowded.

The grandstands aren't a bad bet depending on which ones are open and there is a photographer slit up at the arena but the aforementioned security don't like people hanging around there so you'll probably get chased off.

There is another photography slit at Chapel which you can shoot through from behind the barrier and if you walk about 100 metres to your right there is a gate for emergency vehicles which you can shoot over to get pans through Becketts.

The infield is your best bet, near The Loop there are a number of spots.

It won't be so busy that you'll need to bag a spot, infact the last thing you want to do is bag a spot unless you want 2000 identical photographs. It's a 3 hour race so move around, if you wanted to you could walk most of the circuit in that time.

As above, move around. I rarely find it beneficial to stay for more than 15 minutes in one place. There will be more than enough room to stand wherever you like, Silverstone is a huge place. Thanks for all the advice for my trip to Silverstone.
It turned out to be quite an eventual day as I managed to photograph a coming together of three of the cars.

You found a nice area with no fence, pictures are a bit soft though were you half pressing the shutter button and tracking the cars before taking the photo?

The sequence of the crash happen really quick the autofocus was set to tracking so it was struggling to keep up as I was.
