Mk1 headlight bulb replacement / upgrade

As subject line,

I have a bulb gone on my 96 mk1 (uk) and just wondered what the common thing to do it? Straight replacement or a slighty better bulb etc?

A straight replacement would be fine unless you believe you need more. If so then there are a number of enhanced bulbs to be had so your easiest route would be to browse the shelves in Halfords.

The Halfrauds Ultra Brilliance bulbs are pretty good. Get decent reviews, as do the Philips x-treme vision bulbs.
