Not quite a perfect rendition, but it's not the kind of solo that requires one. Her phaser setting is way too aggressive for this though, this sounds like something you'd use for the start of "Ain't talking 'bout love".
As a big EVH fan, I have to agree it's a boring solo. It might have been mindblowing back in the day to those who didn't know better when shred had not yet arrived, but there were many, many technically superior musicians in other fields.

Excellent technical skills, it's a shame she can't manage to look like she's actually enjoying playing.
Keep seeing this over and over. Great technical players doing renditions of other peoples work.I'd love to see some kid completely f
king rocking out, playing with soul. It's a guitar solo, not a violin recital . Play from your f
king heart.Edited by B17NNS on Sunday 26th May 20:03
Is it in the player's body language? Yes
How slow or fast the notes are, or how many they use? Is it in their scale choice? No
It's that unquantifiable thing that some musicians have. Not knocking the girl but she could try standing up for a start, there is no feel or emotion.
You may be a technically brilliant painter for example, capable of recreating the work of the masters time and time again. It doesn't make an artist.
She could probably play this note perfect. But she wouldn't feel it.

Sorry if I came across as genuine, I was being completely facetious, you can't measure a musisican's emotional involvement with a piece based on their facial expression, body language or anything else. What people often refer to as "soul" is, in the eyes of most guitarists, nothing more than exaggerated facial expressions, holding long, sustained notes and playing lots of bendy, slow to mid tempo pentatonic pieces.

I can see what you're getting at, but I have to say I would find it extremely difficult to imagine how someone that is experiencing genuine emotional involvement with what they are doing could fail to communicate that emotionality through their facial expression and body language. I'm not a fan of gurning away like some ham actor, but a spark of life in the eyes at least lets you know the player is into th music, rather than the mechanical reproduction of a stream of notes.B17NNS said:

She might not want to do all the amateur dramatics that some guitar players do. If you ask me, I honestly think she's enjoying playing that, she just isn't getting all egotistic like most music people do.
Anyway, there's one thing we can all agree on: Ar least she isn't sitting around listening to Justin Bieber and Michael Booblay.
She deserves all the encouragement she can get.

Fair enough, the last thing I want to do is discourage the kid Why would anyone learn to do something that they don't enjoy. and then upload a video of it?
