I need a new screen in my Chim. (via insurance) Are they readily available or is there a long lead in time ? Also are all fitters "up to the job " or do I need to be choosy,Im with Mannings & I would have thought they would know who to use ?

New batch available from Multipart so any of the established Indies should be able to get you one and I assume they'll have their preferred fitters.

Wasn't there a group buy plan at the end of last year ? What happened to it ?

It was based on the fact that the screens coming from Multipart at the time didn't fit. Multipart has had a new batch made and they're fine, S&D have just fitted one to my car and indeed several others in the last few months and they fit perfectly.

I assume that means there was/is no need to have a batch made privately.

Paul (Glassman on PH ) is a very competent indie used by guys on here. He's in Norf London, so not too far from you.

Took mine to Autoglass today...for the 4th time. They can't get the seal right. Fingers crossed, getting a bit sick of it.

Just had my car serviced at David Geralds TVR. Doug told me that he had no problem in acquiring and fitting windscreens. They usually re-use the old seal.

Colin, here's Paul's www.http://www.glasstecauto.co.uk/
He comes well recommended by other TVR owners.

If my memory serves me right I thought the group buy ones were being made somewhere Scandinavia.
However, if your say the Multipart ones fit well now then I'll follow route albeit without using AutoGlass if they struggle to fit them.
What's the general rule on rubbers (windscreen !) ?
I was told always use the old ones which have taken years to form to the correct profile.

One of the 'technicians' at Autoglass told me that rule #1 is keep the old seal. Shame this was a week after they threw mine in the bin.
