Changed the wheels on 911 - What you think?
Discussion
HI there
Fitted some track wheels yesterday fitted with Michelin CUP tyres, here is some pictures:-

Have to say I expected these wheels to look nowhere near as good as my regular Sport Design wheels, as I got them to be used as track wheels, but am pleasantly surprised at how good they actually look and certainly show of the huge brakes more so than my regular wheels.
For comparison sake, here is a picture of the car on its regular wheels:-

The cups have a little more grip that the Corsa's for sure which is superb as the Corsa is also a track R compound tyre too. The Michelins also seems more confident inspiring and quieter. Not one for the wet though as the tread design is pretty much for dry use only. Looking forward to Donnington in June now.
What you guys think of the wheels?

Looking good Gibbo, have you tried Toyo 888s yet? I currently have them on my Turbo, great in the dry, not too bad in the wet but avoid standing water! A bit noisy though.
I've tried Pirelli Rosso's, PS2's, SuperSports, Pirelli Corsa and Michelin cups now.SuperSports without a doubt are the best road tyre and all rounder. Dry grip is only marginally down on the Corsa and cups on track, but the sidewalls are a bit soft which takes away a bit of fun. But in cold dry SuperSport has way more grip, likewise for wet and they last forever.
The Corsa and cups are more fun to drive on, stiffer sidewalls and when hot have the best grip.
Would you rate R888's better than cups fr dry track use?

Haven't tried Cups yet but 888s are very good in the dry, certainly better than Corsas. They are a bit noisy and only come with 5mm of tread new though. Surprisingly good in the wet but standing water can be hairy! Very stiff sidewalls, you can sit on them and they don't flex!
And they look the ballhooks as well!

R888 are a old tyre now, and came last in Track tests , they also don't heat cycle well.
Ps I love the wheels, as I don't like sport design, and sold my set of sport design wheels.
I like turbo 2 wheels ATM or OZ. turbo 2 looks new and fresh and the OZ looks like you mean business.

Gibbo - I think they look good - better in black than the standard silver. I think the ultimate would have been the Carerra Sports with the black centres and diamond cut rims (1/2" wider front and rear) which allow you to run 305 sections on the rears to boot; but I appreciate that a set of these is not cheap!
