XJ 350 Sticking wing mirrors
Discussion
Just a quick one folks, probably been out before as this is a common fault apparently......
Has anyone out there had bother with sticking wing mirrors? Both are getting stuck at various points when they are moving out, yet oddly they go back fine!
Its embarrassing, I am having to press the power mirror switch half a dozen times to get the mirrors deployed, it looks like I am sending a semaphore signal.
Is this a dealer job or can it be something daft like lubricating the mechanism? (if you can get to it)
Thanks folks.

The alloy corrodes and creates a gloopy paste that bungs up the mechanism. If you push the mirrors all the way forward you will uncover an inspection window. Remove this and it gives you access to the folding mechanism. You'll find it full of gunk that looms much like soft cheese. Clean it out and give it a squirt with WD40. I do this every three or four months on average!

Great..... will head out there tonight and have a look!
Cant be bothered with another trip to Jaguar.
Found this, which shows clearly how to solve the problem. http://www.superv8.co.uk/2013/02/powerfold-mirrors...
