Anyone been watching this?

Really enjoying it, Tom Kitchin seems a smashing bloke, awesome chef and potentially a wonderful teacher I think.

Tonight, M Roux Jr had a 3rd year student at Catering College whose favourite meal was scrambled eggs. Microwaved. What the merry feck? She didn't even know how to scramble eggs without the microwave!

There's nothing wrong with microwaved scrambled eggs, provided they aren't overcooked. I can make scrambled eggs in the microwave that are as good or better than most people's pan-made eggs.

Although not knowing how to do it without the microwave seems a bit off if you want to be a chef!

I must admit, I've never tried making them in the microwave...I have been served them several times and each and every time they have been awful. It strikes me as being no quicker than using a frying pan and much harder control the temperature.

I've never tried making them using a bain marie either, anyone done this?

It's a decent show.
Tom Kitchin & Theo Randall came across very well. I expect Michel Roux Jr to kick ass to some extent.
I'm surprised that they haven't unearthed a really obvious natural talent yet. Some very good young chefs though. smile
