Is there a special speed limit on roundabouts?
Discussion
Having recently moved to MK I am faced with lots of national speed limit D/C's threaded together by largely traffic free roundabouts.
I was wondering if you are going from one NSL to another NSL and there is nothing on the roundabout, are you allowed to carry on at 60 over the roundabout?
I have not noticed any signs suggesting that the speed limit changes at each one. Or are you expected to stop before you enter a roundabout at all times?

Why would you think the speed limit changes for a roundabout, or that there is any obligation to stop if it is clear?
Observing what's happening on all the approaches and losing no more speed than necessary vs. feeling obliged to stop at every give way line allows a clapped out Maestro 1.3 to keep up with a BMW from one side of MK to the other
Just remember to rotate your tyres regularly!

I know, it's cool aint it!
Just replaced all my tyres, so should be a good for a while...
We've got a a pair of roundabouts near here where the approx road is designated as a 40 limit, it changes to a 50 limit within 50m of the roundabout, then back down to a 40 limit on the exit. Going across the roundabout its 50 all the way. Seems bloody stupid to me, but there you go. Oh, and ALL the approach and exit roads "should" be NSL. (bet they were a couple of years ago). And another thing, the wide, smooth approach road with the 40 limit on has narrow lanes off it signed as NSL

Absolutely not! The whole idea of a roundabout is to promote traffic flow (kinda makes you want to when they put traffic lights on them )
I remember back in the murky mists of time being told off by my driving instructor if I came to a complete stop at a roudabout when there wasn't any traffic coming!
{edited to add:} I always had in the back of my mind that there wasn't any speed limit at all when actually on the r/bout, the theory being that depending on where the speedo cable picks up from, it could be wildly out when making a sharp turn. Can't find any evidence to back this up, though, so I'll put it down to a late night talking bollox pub conversation...

Around twelve years ago, prior to purchasing my Westfield, I went down to the factory in Kingswinford, and the then works manager John Grosvenor took me out for a spin.....
To demonstrate the roadholding, he negotiated a local MINI roundabout at about 80mph..
Stuck to the road like glue it did......
