159 Front subframe rust
Discussion
Hi all,
Recently when having a service the garage pointed out that my 159 had fairly substatial rust to the subframe under where the radiator etc is. He said that this was becoming a fairly common sight for him whilst working on 159s. He added though that it is not terminal and doesn't affect the rest of the chasis etc, but if left unchecked could see the parts that it supports dropping lower.
Has anyone else suffered this? Obviously a whole new subframe would be a fairly epic cost (labour wise at least) requiring engine out etc. I'm guessing it would be theoretically possible to weld a steel beam across the gap instead?
Any suggestions from anyone who's dealt with this problem would be appriciated.
Cheers, V
