Yep finally started mine after the car has sat around for the last 6 months.

Here's a few pics so far.

Actually getting the body off is pretty easy. Did it in a couple of hours on my own with just an engine crane.

Getting it back on will be a little harder I think. Getting the engine out is more long winded than removing the body!

Excellent, good work, looks very familiar! You didn’t go for the partial lift then wink

I’m just getting going again on putting mine back together after a long break away from it, with small kids getting in the way.

I was pretty lucky with mine. The corrosion isn't that bad.

The 2 bolts in the nose cone were the worst and I think the threads in the chassis will have to be replaced on those. All the other chassis bolts came out easily.

My garage is only just bigger than a single. laugh the "double" side is full of shelves, wheels and tyres, toolbox, washing machine, engine stand.

I've put all the parts removed in my loft!

ridds, what is the cyllinder shaped thing in the front of the chassis (where the sun is shining in the v-shaped bit at the front?)

Yes, your main centre section looks quite good, I found there was some nasty rust just staring to take hold near the gear box mounts, how’s yours there?

Quite often I think dealers take the micky when it comes to prices. However, I think full body off chassis refurbs are worth every penny. This kind of job would take me a year and loads of swearing. Hat off to anyone who does it themself.

How is it supported? Mine was with a liberal number of chunky cable ties, but would prefer a proper bracket to the cross member.

Only a shade more advanced. 2 jubilee clips and the original rubber isolators that are attached to the pump. Hasn't moved since fitting. May come up with a more graceful solution when refitting though.

ridds - I thought yours was an early 4.5 or GT, but I cant see those adaptors for the longer shocks in that last pic, had you taken them off?

She's a 98 4.5 but no shock mount adaptors were ever fitted.

I thought we found we had virtually the same car from that time I met you at Austec years back, 98 4.5… Odd that yours hasn’t got them but that sounds like TVR!

Ireland borrowed mine to make a copy as the guys who he set his car with thought they would make a big difference. I asked him to let me know if he noticed any difference but I didn’t ever hear back, think he’s sold up now hasn’t he?
